The Level 4 REC has a significantly larger motor (750W with an 1188W peak) that outputs more power with an extended range, supported by Regenerative Braking. This means you can ride faster for longer.
Regenerative Braking, or Regen, is using the motor as a generator when it's slowing down. Converting kinetic energy into electricity, powering the main battery as the bike slows down. Toggleable while coasting and during only-braking, Regen saves on power and your brake pads, allowing you to ride further.
Yes, the Level 4 REC is rated to an IPX5 rating, meaning that you can ride in the rain, but be sure to avoid direct water spray and fully submerging the bike.
Aventon does not sell conversion kits. All Aventon bikes are already designed with electrical components, such as integrated batteries, motors, and sensors for an optimal riding experience.
Taking care of your ebike battery is an integral part of getting the most out of your Aventon ebike. Here are a few things to remember:
- 1. Charge your battery regularly to avoid fully draining your battery’s stored energy or voltage.
- 2. Use the right charger. Only use an Aventon branded and proper model charger (Be sure to place the charger brick on a flat, non-flammable surface like metal or concrete. The charger brick will conduct heat while charging.)
- 3. Avoid overcharging your ebike.
- 4. Avoid extreme temperatures. Store and charge the battery in a climate-controlled area, keeping it away from both extreme heat and cold.
- 5. Maintain the right level of charge. The battery should be stored at 75% charge to its health.
- 6. Avoid heavy loads. Do not exceed the bike’s recommended maximum capacity.
- 7. Keep your battery, terminal, & ports clean.
Some Aventon models, such as the Level 2, Level 3, Abounds, Sinch 2, & Aventure 2, come with pre-installed fenders and a rear rack. Additional accessories are available for purchase. Electric bikes require regular maintenance tune-ups similar to traditional bikes and cars. To get the best performance out of your ebike, regularly check tires, tubes, chains, battery, and brakes, or visit a local bike shop for professional assistance. Performing a pre-ride safety check helps maintain your ebike, as well as staying up-to-date on non-electric component maintenance and repairs.
The torque sensor design is more intuitive for the rider at high and low speeds, it’s more efficient, has smoother power delivery, and is less prone to damage as the sensor is internal opposed to the external cadence sensor.

**Max range is estimated based on a rider weighing 165 lbs (75 kg) on a paved, flat road, in Eco Mode, with Ride Tune set to the default settings. Actual range will vary depending on rider weight, terrain, weather conditions, tire pressure, and cadence.

I purchased the REC 4 as I had previously been impressed using another model on vacation
The REC 4 is a great bike for suburban and urban driving and as well with acceleration on hills and makes riding a breeze. The four boost level levels enable you to ride with a level of assist to your own choosing. Very satisfied with the purchase.

This is our third Aventon Bike. Sold my Adventure 2 and just got a Level 4 Rec. It's a nice mid-way point between the Adv 2 and the wife's Pace 500. So far, with all the new features etc., really like it over the Adventure 2.
The Adventure 2 did ride nice, but was a bit bulky to load on a bike rack, work on, and maneuver around. It seemed like a small motorcycle at times.
Level 4 Rec is a lot more nimble, easier to load, and has some really great features that you can't find anywhere else in the market for the price. Great value!
Every bike we've bought came in great shape, with no issues, and easy to assemble. Excellent quality!
Bike number four in the future? Let's get some miles on these two first! LOL But, when it comes time again, Aventon will be the first place we look.

The bike is better than my level 2 in every way, except the charging port. You shouldn’t have to take the battery off each time to charge the bike. It’s not easily accessible. That’s the only negative I see with the level 4.

Thanks for following up! We are so glad to hear the Level 4 REC feels like such a major step up from your Level 2 across the board. You actually do not have to pull the battery pack out every time you charge, like you might be used to doing. The frame has a built-in charge port on the lower section of the down tube, protected by a small rubber dust cap. Just peel that rubber flap back and plug the charger directly into the bike frame; no unlatching or battery removal required. If you ever have trouble locating the port cover, our support team is always happy to guide you!
