So far I am pretty happy with my new level 4. I have only take smaller rides with it so far but have enjoyed the auto mode for the pedal assist and the auto gear changing as well.

I sold my very nice Trek/Electric Townie Go and purchased the Level 4 ADV a couple weeks ago. So far I've replaced the saddle for one that's a bit more comfortable. I also ordered a throttle and installed it. I have to say the throttle isn't as responsive as the Townie Go throttle was so that's been a bit disappointing. The Adventon App is pretty good but I'm still trying to adjust the settings to fit my needs and to figure out how each of the settings effect the ride. I know this may sound somewhat negative but these are miner disappointments compared to the overall bike. It's a great bike with many wonderful features. I don't use the auto shift very often because it seems to shift different than my needs. Maybe if I figure out the App settings I can fix that issue. The bike quality is really good and I thoroughly recommend this bike to anyone who's looking for a high quality bike with some great features.

I purchased the Level 1 five years ago and used the heck out of it. On-road, off-road, even some light trail and mountain biking. It did it all. I've been waiting for a mid-drive torque sensor motor before making the upgrade. The L4 ADV was absolutely worth the wait!

The motor is quiet, shifting is smooth, and the extensive features are excellent. The riding experience is so nice. I thought the auto-shifting would be kind of a gimmick, but I was surprised at how much I like it and how well it works. I removed the fenders & rack so the bike can be a little more trail & dirt compatible. This Level 4 ADV functions exceptionally well as a trail bike, and is of course a fantastic road bike.

If I had any small quibbles, it would be:

1. No quick release for the seat post.
2. Wish there was a simple button combo to reset the Trip time and mileage (instead of going into settings or the app).
3. Wish the Throttle was included in the purchase price, not needing to buy it separately - though it was not expensive and super easy to install. but why not just include in up front?

But none of those small items drop it from being a five star rating. This is an exceptional value when you consider the quality of the components and all of the features included. Well worth the price. But, that's what Aventon does with all of it's bikes... Exceed expectations with value, quality and service.

I've had my Level 4 ADV for three weeks and 280 miles. Here's a few more observations.

1) The electronics are incredible and go way beyond automatic shifting and theft deterrence.
The battery includes temperature limits to prevent charging or discharging outside of a safe range.
It takes about a minute to calibrate the shifting and crank. No more bike stands or time consuming trial and error. After calibration the shifting is smoother than any bike I've ever had.
The pedal response automatically adjusts to the four assist levels. I haven't even touched the shift buttons in three weeks, except once to calibrate the shifting.
Uphill start assist senses when you're on an incline and adds extra power.
Assist profiles can be programmed and saved. It's particularly useful to riders of different skill levels sharing a bike.
The metrics include total calories burned and the amount of CO2 kept out of the atmosphere.
The app has adjustable service intervals that track routine maintenance.
Rides are automatically logged, including the route and numerous metrics, but it starts a new ride every time you stop for a few minutes. Other apps continue recording until you stop them.

2) I live two miles from the General Motors Technical Center and this one is recall-worthy. The rails on the rear rack have a square cross section rather than round like any other racks I've ever seen. I have both Lone Peak and Rock Bros panniers. The Lone Peak panniers keep falling off because the locks on the hooks can't go completely around the rails. The Rock Bros panniers can't be attached at all because the rails aren't wide enough. I can't imagine how the Aventon engineers overlooked this.

3) The stock saddle and suspension seat post are too hard. I weigh 130 lbs., the lowest recommended for the seat post.
Fortunately the Brooks saddle I've had for decades fits on the Level 4.

4) The battery "overcharging" on the Level 2 is not as much of a problem on the Level 4, but you still need to manually calculate the charging time to stay within ideal limits.

5) The handlebars have very little room to add accessories. I've added a second clamp-on bar.

Other than the rack, the Level 4 ADV has exceeded my expectations. I definitely recommend buying one, especially with the price of gas soaring and climate change wreaking havoc on our planet.
