FAQs

The differences include hydraulic brakes, a more traditional road tire, and updated frame design.
Soltera 2.5 uses upgraded hydraulic disc brakes, while the Soltera 2 uses mechanical disc brakes. This was one of the most commonly requested upgrades on the Soltera 2. The hydraulic brakes offer more stopping power and better modulation. This increases overall safety, allowing riders to stop faster and more effectively.
Soltera 2.5 also uses a more traditional road tire, as the Soltera 2 uses a more "all-terrain" tire. The difference in the intended use of tires is dependent on tread pattern. The Soltera 2.5 uses a tire with a smoother tread pattern, increasing the amount of rubber that contacts the road. This improves grip and efficiency while riding on paved roads.
The point at which the seat stays meet the seat tube have been moved upward slightly on the Soltera 2.5 to create a sleeker looking frame. This does not impact ride quality or frame geometry. It is purely aesthetic.
In an effort to enhance a seamless riding experience, we have removed the motor cutoff sensors. Much like the majority of performance E-bikes on the market, the removal of that cutoff allows riders to have more control over the motor output and the bikes behavior overall. It also removes the need for 2 additional wires from the brake and wiring harness. Reducing the number of connections and wires ultimately reduces the number of possible failure points. It also give shops and riders the ability to swap brakes if they prefer a different brake, without needing to worry about being compatible with the brake cutoff.
Aventon ebikes like the Soltera 2.5 are built to the IPX6 water-resistant standard. Aventon ebikes are built to the IPX6-rated standard. An IPX6 rating means the bike is protected against high-pressure water streams from any angle. This provides strong water resistance, so you can confidently ride in heavy rain or through puddles and mud. However, IPX6 does not mean waterproof—Aventon ebikes are not designed for full submersion. Avoid using a pressure washer or sprayer to clean your ebike, as pressurized water can still damage components.
Yes. Class 1 ebikes are pedal-assist only, meaning they have no throttle. By removing the throttle on your Aventon ebike, you can configure a class 2 to a class 1 ebike for trail use.
Aventon does not sell conversion kits. All Aventon bikes are already designed with electrical components, such as integrated batteries, motors, and sensors for an optimal riding experience.
Taking care of your ebike battery is an integral part of getting the most out of your Aventon ebike. Here are a few things to remember:

  1. 1. Charge your battery regularly to avoid fully draining your battery’s stored energy or voltage.
  2. 2. Use the right charger. Only use an Aventon branded and proper model charger (Be sure to place the charger brick on a flat, non-flammable surface like metal or concrete. The charger brick will conduct heat while charging.)
  3. 3. Avoid overcharging your ebike.
  4. 4. Avoid extreme temperatures. Store and charge the battery in a climate-controlled area, keeping it away from both extreme heat and cold.
  5. 5. Maintain the right level of charge. The battery should be stored at 75% charge to its health.
  6. 6. Avoid heavy loads. Do not exceed the bike’s recommended maximum capacity.
  7. 7. Keep your battery, terminal, & ports clean.
Some Aventon models, such as the Level 2, Level 3, Abounds, Sinch 2, & Aventure 2, come with pre-installed fenders and a rear rack. Additional accessories are available for purchase. Explore a wide-range of Aventon accessories, including helmets, locks, bike pumps, and so much more to add to your next riding adventure.
All Aventon-branded frames, framesets, components, and batteries come with a 2-year warranty. Learn more about the Aventon warranty.
Electric bikes require regular maintenance tune-ups similar to traditional bikes and cars. To get the best performance out of your ebike, regularly check tires, tubes, chains, battery, and brakes, or visit a local bike shop for professional assistance. Performing a pre-ride safety check helps maintain your ebike, as well as staying up-to-date on non-electric component maintenance and repairs.
The torque sensor design is more intuitive for the rider at high and low speeds, it’s more efficient, has smoother power delivery, and is less prone to damage as the sensor is internal opposed to the external cadence sensor.

After 1400 Miles in 7 months, The Soltera 2 is AMAZING

I will try to keep this concise, but it's so amazing I just want to get all the info down for people on the fence about it.

This bike has been amazing and insanely fun to ride. I've used it to ride from NYC to NJ industrial areas to pick up or drop off vehicles at a mechanic shop. I've ridden this through mud, rain, snow, and sunny days, and it is comparable to my Canyon road bike in terms of fun. I took Electric Citibikes (bike rental program) almost everyday each winter for about 4 months because I would always dress to be warm but then be insanly sweaty when I got to work, so I would pay $3-5 each ride to not get sweaty, It would cost me about $400 a month and I realised if I just bought this bike I would save money so thats what I did, Its currently saved me over $2000 in rentals except I'll have it for a long time and continue saving. I realised this bike could do so much more, it allows me to ride anywhere, I can carry cargo, I can venture far out, and not have to worry if I just carry the small charging cable. It has become my battle bike, I covered it in stickers and locks, and feel like I can lock it anywhere and no one will steal it, yet I can still take it everywhere.

I use the pedal assist about 99% of the time, but only use the throttle about 10-15% of the time, so let's get started.

Battery life: *** (Depends a lot on ride style)
Ride quality without Battery: ***
Ride quality: *****
Ease of use: *****
Customization options: *****
Weight: **** (it's heavier with my lock and rack setup)
Riding Agility: ****
Component quality: ****

So in my current configuration, I ride with 2 separate large Kryptonite locks, a GoPro camera, a rear rack, and fenders. I can usually ride about 5-7 miles when using the "Sport" setting. I rarely ever use the "Turbo" setting as it's hardly needed and just gives a tiny bump for consuming much more battery.

I started having issues with the brakes at 874 miles and had them changed for hydraulic brakes, which I will say is a huge upgrade (Aventon should offer that as an upgrade, IMHO).

I used the tires that came with the bike until about 1340 miles, where I got 3 flats within a few days and realised it was the tires that had worn through so much that there was almost nothing protecting the tubes. I replaced both tires and have put on another 60 miles with no issues.

Recently, it has sometimes had trouble engaging the battery on some hills, but it always kicks in after a minute. Changing gears and hitting the throttle a few times usually kicks it in.

Once the battery drops below 50% I usually switch to Tour and that gives great power on flat ground for much less battery consumption I have ridden this 20 miles on one charge when only using "Tour" or "Eco" and in a few instances had to ride some hilly ground with no batter, due to the gearing when riding in low gear I was able to tackle some massive hills and while its not what I would call easy it was definetly on par with my road bike.

for a few months I had to ride to the hospital every mornign for some cancer treatment and I didn't love getting tired and sweaty for it so I would just cruise on the local bike path using only the throttle and slalom through light poles and go over jumps and it was amazing how much fun it was while having to go to something somewhat horrible.

Anyway, this bike is absolutely worth buying, but remember, this bike is a bit more for the cyclist who generally likes to pedal/bike but also may use it to transport stuff or just have a little bit of an assist when riding. I would say you can't ride it completely by throttle alone, as the battery and power in the rear wheel is lacking a bit of power, but if you don't mind using a little bit of leg power, you can pretty much go very fast while not necessarily breaking a sweat. I usually start from a stop by pedaling, and then use the throttle on flat ground, and it runs great.

I hope this helped people who were on the fence about this!

Back on a bike

I’ve never been a big bike rider and hadn’t owned or ridden a bike in 20 years. My husband bought me this bike so I could join the family on rides and I LOVE it. Easy to ride, comfy, helpful little boost when I get tired. Though, it’s also great to ride without using the electricity. I’ve been finding more and more reasons to take it out. I appreciate that it’s simple versus the minivan size e-bikes many parents ride around!

Hi Jess! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We're happy to hear that our Soltera 2.5 Ebike has gotten you back on the bike and enjoying family rides together. We understand the convenience of having that extra boost when needed, but we're glad you're also enjoying riding without using the power. We hope you continue to find more reasons to take it out and explore.

Thanks again for choosing our ebike!

Happy riding!

Amazing

Ive ridden this bike as my primary transportation for over a year in an urban area that is not bike friendly at all. Its amazing. I am 6'3 and 250lb and can ride this bike hard and it holds up with no issues at all. Regular maintenance and this bike seems like it'll last forever. I've even wrecked on it a few times and it barely scratches and then keeps going like nothing happened. I had a $4000 Gazelle before and it was nowhere near as cool or functional as this bike.
Only caveat is the wheel wells are very shallow so you're stuck with flat road tires. I got rock hard road tires and have had no issues.
