FAQs

While the Level 2 does not include turn signals, it does come equipped with front and rear lights for a safer riding experience, day or night.
The average range for the Level.2 commuter ebike is up to 60 miles per charge, depending on the pedal assist level and throttle usage. For optimal riding experience with the Level.2, use the lowest PSA level to conserve battery life and extend range.
The Level 2 is a commuter-style ebike equipped with a suspension fork, fenders, and a rear rack, while the Pace 500.3 is a cruiser-style electric bike with an upright riding position, swept-back handlebars, and cushioned saddle.
Commuter ebike tires are designed to be versatile and can be ridden on both smooth and rough surfaces, including roads, gravel, dirty trails, rocky areas, and even wetlands. If you want to overcome more challenging terrain and trails, our electric mountain bike is better suited for rougher landscape due to their wider tires and different geometry.
The Level 2 commuter electric bike weighs 62 lbs with the battery installed. (Battery weight is 7.6lbs)
Aventon’s Level 2 comes equipped with a throttle that has a maximum speed of 20 mph.
Aventon ebikes like the Level 2 are built to the IPX4 water-resistant standard. IPX4 means that your bike is resistant to water splashes from any direction. This means it’s OK to ride your ebike in light rain. It won’t be harmed by spray from a wet road or raindrops. Your ebike is not intended to be exposed to prolonged rain, be submerged, or subjected to a pressurized spray. Don’t use a pressure washer or sprayer to clean your ebike.
Either an adjustable stem or a handlebar with a higher rise can elevate the riding position of the bike.
Aventon does not sell conversion kits. All Aventon bikes are already designed with electrical components, such as integrated batteries, motors, and sensors for an optimal riding experience.
Taking care of your ebike battery is an integral part of getting the most out of your Aventon ebike. Here are a few things to remember:

  1. 1. Charge your battery regularly to avoid fully draining your battery’s stored energy or voltage.
  2. 2. Use the right charger. Only use an Aventon branded and proper model charger (Be sure to place the charger brick on a flat, non-flammable surface like metal or concrete. The charger brick will conduct heat while charging.)
  3. 3. Avoid overcharging your ebike.
  4. 4. Avoid extreme temperatures. Store and charge the battery in a climate-controlled area, keeping it away from both extreme heat and cold.
  5. 5. Maintain the right level of charge. The battery should be stored at 75% charge to its health.
  6. 6. Avoid heavy loads. Do not exceed the bike’s recommended maximum capacity.
  7. 7. Keep your battery, terminal, & ports clean.
Some Aventon models, such as the Level 2, Level 3, Abounds, Sinch 2, & Aventure 2, come with pre-installed fenders and a rear rack. Additional accessories are available for purchase. Explore a wide-range of Aventon accessories, including helmets, locks, bike pumps, and so much more to add to your next riding adventure.
All Aventon-branded frames, framesets, components, and batteries come with a 2-year warranty. Learn more about the Aventon warranty.
Electric bikes require regular maintenance tune-ups similar to traditional bikes and cars. To get the best performance out of your ebike, regularly check tires, tubes, chains, battery, and brakes, or visit a local bike shop for professional assistance. Performing a pre-ride safety check helps maintain your ebike, as well as staying up-to-date on non-electric component maintenance and repairs.
The torque sensor design is more intuitive for the rider at high and low speeds, it’s more efficient, has smoother power delivery, and is less prone to damage as the sensor is internal opposed to the external cadence sensor.

OMG JUST. BUY. IT!

Just took my first ride on my Level 4 ADV. I upgraded from a Level 2 that I bought two years ago. The least I can say is WOW! The wireless shifting alone makes buying it a no-brainer, but the Level 4 goes way beyond that.

I don't know where to begin, but the automatic shifting is a game changer. I haven't fine-tuned it but even out of the box it's phenomenal. I rode the first half of my 26 mile nightly ride with eco boost and increased my average time by about 20% over the Level 2. On the way back I rode without pedal assist. Despite the extra weight and drag, I actually rode the 13 miles home FASTER than my hybrid MTB!

The configuration options are limitless. I thought I would have to adjust the pedal assist for each of the four modes (off, eco, sport, turbo), but Aventon has made all that unnecessary. You can adjust it by specifying the cadence you want to maintain, the effort you want to exert, the amount of assist the bike provides vs. your effort, etc. Setting a lower cadence requires more effort for a given speed, and it gives you a better workout. I found that 75 RPM was about right for the effort I wanted without using pedal assist. The bike senses cadence changes and selects the gear accordingly. It shifts down going uphill, up going downhill, etc. It even downshifts when you stop to make it easier to get up to speed! You can also ride it in fully manual mode, just as you would a traditional bike.

Automatic shifting is just one improvement. Here's some more.
1) The cheap plastic chain guard that broke off from my Level 2 is now metal.
2) Fender extensions that provide extra protection from splashes and dirt are included. I rigged up an old plastic fender on the Level 2.
3) The Level 4 weighs 10 lbs. less and the weight is better balanced. It's much easier to carry up the stairs into my house.
4) The Level 4 seat post has been upgraded to a suspension style.
5) The mid drive motor feels more natural than the hub motor, and it's easier to remove the rear wheel. The ride is also much smoother.
6) The security features are fantastic. The Level 4 has wheel and battery lockouts, an option to use a PIN to start it, theft detection, and several other improvements including geofencing!
7) The rear lights have been moved from the fender and seat stays to where the seat and chains stays meet. It's easier for rear traffic to see but harder for cross traffic, especially when using panniers.
8) Orange turn signals are new and integrated into the lights. Unlike the Level 2 though, the Level 4 does not have brake lights.
9) The Level 4 has a 10 speed cassette vs. 8 on the Level 2.
10) Last but very far from least, the range on the Level 4 is 120 miles, double that of the Level 2. It's now easy to pedal without assist, effectively extending the range by using assist only when necessary, especially on flat terrain.

Here's a few negatives.
1) Aventon uses low-range components without an option to upgrade. That's understandable, as very few riders need a better group set. Despite this, the chain and cassette on my Level 2 have lasted an incredible 6,300 miles! I've had no problems with the shifters, brakes, chain rings, derailleur, cables, etc.
2) The stock Kenda tires are prone to flats and are a compromise between city and trail riding. I ride almost exclusively on pavement and upgraded them to Schwalbe Marathon E-Plus. I rode 6,000 miles on the Level 2 without a flat!
3) The Level 4 pedals are plastic. I swapped them for metal ones with platform and clipless sides.
4) The kickstand that broke off on my Level 2 doesn't seem to be any better. Worse yet, you can't install a motorcycle-style two leg kickstand because there's no space between the chain stays in front of the rear wheel. Single-leg kickstands will not hold the bike up when it's carrying a heavy load such as panniers filled with groceries.
5) This is a big one. Aventon chargers don't show the charge level and you can't set it. You have to unplug the charger and turn on the bike to see it. If you're charging an extra battery you have to swap it with the one on the bike. All lithium-ion batteries perform best and will last longer when they're not charged over 80% or drained below 20%. They also have to be fully charged every 10 complete cycles to prevent them from developing a "memory." I have to manually calculate the charging time by multiplying the percentage of charge I want to add by 2.5 minutes and use a countdown timer. Also, the batteries "overcharge" by about 15%. I can ride 10 - 12 miles before the charge level drops to 99% on the display. I have to factor this in when setting a charging time.

Don't let these drawbacks fool you. If you're unsure if you should buy a Level 4 ADV, you can put any doubts to rest. This bike has EVERYTHING that I've wanted in an e-bike and more at a very competitive price. The positives far outweigh the negatives.

Better than I expected.

I'm a long time bike rider and was silently shopping for an ebike. I gave myself 5 years to decide when I came upon a few YouTube reviews on the Level 3. It seemed just the bike for me and my purposes. This ebike has allowed me to have an efficient way to get to work while still allowing for a workout if I want. I love how I can get to work with minimal sweating compared to the old pedal bike which I still ride on weekends. Eco mode is all I've really used and only use the throttle at intersections but I'm sure I'll try out all the features. I hope there isn't a direct update to this bike soon because I'm still getting to know my new friend. Thanks Aventon!

Highly recommended. Level 3.

I purchased the level 3 direct and the assembly was easy and well explained instructions. I’m in my mid 60s and had a knee replacement and struggled with my regular bike. After doing a lot of research I found Aventon to be the best choice. I couldn’t be happier with the level 3. I depend on biking for all my local errands as traffic is a real pain and biking is way easier than driving. I would recommend an Aventon model and they offer many different options for individuals.

Hi there, thank you so much for your kind words and for choosing our Level 3 Ebike. We're so glad to hear that it has been a great fit for your needs. Wonderful E-Bike

Been riding an Aventure 3 for about 6 months and had been eye-balling the Level 3 as a good partner. I can say that this bike has surpassed expectation. The build quality from Aventon is phenomenal... right out of the box it goes together easily and rides like a dream. The fact that many of my accessories and parts are interchangeable with my Aventure 3 allows me to pick which bike to ride that day with ease. The Level 3 is an ultimate commuter bike that makes one WANT to ride. E-bikes are heavier in general to conventional bikes but the Level 3 lets you forget that. The app lets me manage both bikes easily and lets me know my riding stats. The security features an added bonus. The few times I have had to reach out, Product Support has been a notch or 12 above other companies and has always been able to help. Thank you!!

Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that our Level 3 E-Bike has exceeded your expectations and has become your go-to commuter bike. We take pride in the build quality of our bikes and are happy that you've had a great experience with our customer service team.

Keep riding and enjoying the convenience and performance of our Level 3 E-Bike.

Happy riding!

Great Aventon Dealer

I will review our new Level 3 bikes after a few months of riding. However, I have to leave a review of our local dealer, Brooks Bike Shop in Mandeville, LA. All of your dealers should be held to the standards of the owner of this store. Outstanding service, great customer focus and great support staff!
