FAQs

As the Ramblas is a performance mountain bike, it’s not common for mountain bikes to have step-through options as the frame’s rigidity takes priority over everything for optimal performance and control on rougher terrain. Generally, mountain bikers of smaller size will simply choose a smaller size frame to ease their riding experience.
Yes. However, this will limit the Ramblas’s use. Ramblas is a class 1 electric bike, without a throttle it’s allowed on various dirt roads and mountain bike trails. Currently, there are no compatible throttle options for the Ramblas either.

Aventon’s Ramblas is a class 1 electric mountain bike, and does not include a throttle.
Aventon’s Ramblas is built to the IPX6 water-resistant standard. Aventon ebikes are built to the IPX6-rated standard. An IPX6 rating means the bike is protected against high-pressure water streams from any angle. This provides strong water resistance, so you can confidently ride in heavy rain or through puddles and mud. However, IPX6 does not mean waterproof—Aventon ebikes are not designed for full submersion. Avoid using a pressure washer or sprayer to clean your ebike, as pressurized water can still damage components.
Yes. Class 1 ebikes are pedal-assist only, meaning they have no throttle. By removing the throttle on your Aventon ebike, you can configure a class 2 to a class 1 ebike for trail use.
Aventon does not sell conversion kits. All Aventon bikes are already designed with electrical components, such as integrated batteries, motors, and sensors for an optimal riding experience.
Taking care of your ebike battery is an integral part of getting the most out of your Aventon ebike. Here are a few things to remember:

  1. 1. Charge your battery regularly to avoid fully draining your battery’s stored energy or voltage.
  2. 2. Use the right charger. Only use an Aventon branded and proper model charger (Be sure to place the charger brick on a flat, non-flammable surface like metal or concrete. The charger brick will conduct heat while charging.)
  3. 3. Avoid overcharging your ebike.
  4. 4. Avoid extreme temperatures. Store and charge the battery in a climate-controlled area, keeping it away from both extreme heat and cold.
  5. 5. Maintain the right level of charge. The battery should be stored at 75% charge to its health.
  6. 6. Avoid heavy loads. Do not exceed the bike’s recommended maximum capacity.
  7. 7. Keep your battery, terminal, & ports clean.
Some Aventon models, such as the Level 2, Level 3, Abounds, Sinch 2, & Aventure 2, come with pre-installed fenders and a rear rack. Additional accessories are available for purchase. Explore a wide-range of Aventon accessories, including helmets, locks, bike pumps, and so much more to add to your next riding adventure.
All Aventon-branded frames, framesets, components, and batteries come with a 2-year warranty. Learn more about the Aventon warranty.
Electric bikes require regular maintenance tune-ups similar to traditional bikes and cars. To get the best performance out of your ebike, regularly check tires, tubes, chains, battery, and brakes, or visit a local bike shop for professional assistance. Performing a pre-ride safety check helps maintain your ebike, as well as staying up-to-date on non-electric component maintenance and repairs.
The torque sensor design is more intuitive for the rider at high and low speeds, it’s more efficient, has smoother power delivery, and is less prone to damage as the sensor is internal opposed to the external cadence sensor.

Fun again

As old age crept up on me, I had slacked off of my riding, especially mt. biking, as some health issues were limiting me. I had to ease up, slow down, and take it easy. I didn't like riding this easy. I was hopeful that an e-bike would let me ride the speed and distances of some years back. To make it fun again. This Ramblas has done just that beyond my wildest dreams. The assist that it provides me is just what I needed.

The 3 adjustable levels of assist let me ride as hard or as easy as I want to. I never have to overdo it, which I was doing before. The adjustments available in the app, let me customize it exactly as I want it. This bike does it all. Mt. biking, road biking, commuting, you name it. It does them all very well. My other 4 bikes will now sit and draw dust.

I ride most of the time in level 1 assist. Just enough help so I can ease up a bit on the effort level. Level 2 will take me up most of the climbs I encounter. I've only used level 3 once, to speed home against a 25-mph wind. Level 1 also overcomes the weight of the bike, and the rolling resistance of the big knobby tires. This makes the bike very capable as a road bike. I no longer care about the wind speed or direction on a road ride.

I am 5ft. 7in. tall with a 31-inch inseam, and the medium frame fits me fine. My personal preference is for a more stretched out position, so I changed the handlebar stem from 40 mm to 80 mm in length.

Pros:

1. The smooth, quiet, adjustable e-assist is amazing. The power available is more than I need. The battery life is incredible. Two hours of mt. biking usually only drains 20% to 25% of the battery, leaving me 75% to 80% of battery left after I'm exhausted.

2. The components on this bike for the price are a great deal in my opinion. The drivetrain and braking systems work extremely well. Shifting is instantaneous, and braking is powerful and easy to modulate.

3. The overall fit and finish of the bike is a plus as well. A well designed and finished work of art.

Cons:

1. The Rock Shox Psylo fork is definitely a nod to achieving a price point. I am 200 pounds, yet I can only get about 70 mm of travel from this 130 mm travel fork. Even on big hits. The spring is way too stiff. Plus, it's my opinion that 130 mm is too much travel for a hardtail. The fork makes the bike sit too tall in the front end. I will probably be replacing it with a 100 mm travel air spring fork.

2. The dropper post is not very functional. The actuating lever works way too hard. I don't care for dropper posts in general (my riding style), and this one is worthless to me. I'll be replacing it soon.

3. The cables that are routed through the frame are constantly rattling around inside the frame. This is very annoying and should have been addressed in designing the bike.

Summary:

A great bike. I love it despite its few shortcomings. They can be addressed. I'm very happy with my purchase. I want to plead to Aventon to please make a dual suspension mt. bike that's as good as this hardtail. You make it, I'll buy it.

Best Bike I've owned

My friend wanted me to see his new e-bike (Ramblas), and I have never been a fan of e-bikes. I already have motorcycles I do not need another one with pedals. He insisted that I at least try his new Ramblas... big mistake... in 5 minutes I was hooked... incredible torque. The next day I purchased a Ramblas for myself and it is the most fun I've ever had on a MTB. Sold my Pivot and will probably never ride my Giant again. My big concern was the lack of an air fork, but the coil fork is surprisingly good. Installed Schwalbe's on my Ramblas so no more flats, great traction, & improved cornering. Do I love this e-bike? I have 842 miles in just over 2 months. My son-in-law is thinking of purchasing another E-bike, and he will ride my Ramblas tomorrow, my guess is he will buy a Ramblas.

Hi Larry!

Thank you for sharing your positive experience with our Ramblas Ebike. We are thrilled to hear that it has exceeded your expectations and that you are having a blast riding it. We hope your son-in-law enjoys the test ride, and we look forward to welcoming him to the Ramblas family.

Aventure to Ramblas

I’m a 69 year old male who has been riding an Aventure since mid 2021. I’m 6’1” and 190 lbs. I’m not really a bike rider. Certainly not a Mountain Bike Rider. Actually I’m a motorcyclist. I started down sizing my motorcycles to lighter versions (because lighter is more FUN) until I decided an e-bike would be a good next step plus I would also get more exercise. Aventure: 73 lbs plus about 45lbs of necessary extras (2 racks, front trunk & canine navigator). That makes a pretty cumbersome ride-granted ,not all the bikes fault. But even at around 120 lbs that’s way lighter than anything with an engine that I could fit on.The Aventure has been a great bike and I will keep riding it when I ride with my wife, who has the step through Aventure , and our dog (Ghita) that rides on my bike. As good as the Aventure has been in the 2000 miles I’ve put on it ; I wanted more….and less. What more could I want? More agility. More muscle. And more advanced hardware. Of coarse the “less” I want is weight. I don’t need to list all the hardware on the Ramblas-read any review and all the testers will gush about all the quality parts that make up this bike ,especially considering the price. So it’s a capable machine at only 53 lbs -half the weight I’m used to.
I ride about half paved roads / bike paths and half gravel roads. I will attempt a trail occasionally but I’m too old for that kind of shenanigan. The Ramblas is a whole different animal than the Aventure. I’ve never had a dropper seat post but the more I use it the more I like it. To be comfortable on the Aventure I had to raise the handlebars and put on a Cloud 9 seat with a suspension seat post. I definitely had to raise the bars on the Ramblas (because: old, bony butt, back and neck issues) but I can’t figure out why I’m just fine with the narrow saddle and no suspension post. The Ramblas handles more “twitchy” but I’m sure it was designed for quick turns. The brakes are flat out amazing! And did I mention only 53 lbs?! For a bike with a motor and battery pack that’s just unbelievable. I like the tune able riding modes. I kind of miss the thumb throttle- it is handy on the Aventure to get it rolling ,but not really necessary on the Ramblas. I miss the shifter indicator while on the Ramblas but getting used to it. I gotta say the Ramblas is more of a workout in a good way. My 1st generation Aventure has 5 assist levels but I almost always ride in level 1 and it’s the” peddle assist” system. The Ramblas is 3 “Torque Sensor”modes-Eco,Trail and Turbo. It’s hard to understand unless you ride them both. With the Aventure, when you start peddling the assist immediately kicks in. It seems like every assist level gets you about 5 mph for the same amount of effort. With the Ramblas, you get a little assist when you start peddling but the harder you peddle the more assist you get. I ride the Ramblas in Trail most of the time. My every day 3 mile route is down into a valley and back up in a loop that’s a mile of pavement and 2 miles of gravel road. I’d use Eco if I was on level road but there isn’t much “level “ around my area. When I get more confident on the new bike I plan to attempt a gravel hill on a side road called Snake Hill. I have no doubt that Turbo will be coming into play. All in all, if I could only have one bike - and I didn’t need to accommodate my canine riding buddy- I think I’d have to take the Ramblas. Lighter really is better…

We are thrilled to hear that you are enjoying the upgrade from your Aventure and that the lighter weight has made a significant difference in your riding experience. We appreciate your feedback and are always looking for ways to improve our products.

Playful hardtail

The geometry is on point, the motor has torque for days, honestly doesn’t even feel heavy at all. Also the suspension fork is not a priority to change in my opinion, it actually works really good. Stop reading and buy it!

Off Road Touring, Camping, Adventures

My wife and I really like the Aventon Ramblas eMTB. I bought the large frame, and she the small frame. We bought the bikes to do some road touring and off-road touring. The power is awesome, and the battery provides excellent range. I plan to pull a trailer (dog and gear). I made a trailer mount that fits the three sized frames for the Ramblas; it appears all three frames share the same rear tail dimensions. If you're interested you can grab it here: https://grabcad.com/library/aventon-ramblas-emtb-trailer-adapter-1

Hi Jim,

Thank you for your review of the Ramblas eMTB! We are happy to hear that you and your wife are enjoying your bikes for off-road touring and camping adventures. Our team put a lot of effort into creating a powerful and long-lasting battery, so we're glad it's meeting your needs. And thank you for sharing your trailer mount design - we're sure it will be helpful for other Ramblas riders as well.

Happy Riding,

Aventon
