FAQs

A belt drive bike foregoes the traditional metal-linked chain for a carbon-reinforced polymer belt. This belt mitigates a variety of common maintenance issues found in a traditional drivetrain, preventing grease and grime buildup, metal-on-metal wear, and the need to grease the belt. It also lasts 2-3 times longer than a traditional chain, meaning you can ride further, longer without worrying about the
Belt drives don’t require the same kind of maintenance as traditional chains. Simply wash off the dirt and mud as it accumulates with water and you’re good to go. If you feel like your belt needs tensioning, please bring it to a local Aventon dealer.
The Soltera 3 ADV was designed to be as simple as possible. A throttle requires extra wiring that could potentially be the cause for more maintenance issues. The bike was designed as a true Class 1 to make sure the bike is as reliable for any no-fuss rides and errands.
The Soltera 3 ADV was designed with simplicity at the forefront. Omitting a derailleur means less parts to break, as well as opening up the option for a belt drive (without an internally geared hub). The tricky part of any single speed bike is finding proper gearing for its top speed while keeping the bike nimble and capable uphill. The Soltera 3 ADV’s gearing provides plenty of room for the rider to reach the max speed of 20MPH while still staying well within the necessary gearing for climbing.
The Soltera 3 ADV was designed to be as nimble and light as possible. At 37lbs, which is 20% lighter than its predecessor, 250W motor with a 500W peak is more than sufficient to ride this bike as intended.
Aventon does not sell conversion kits. All Aventon bikes are already designed with electrical components, such as integrated batteries, motors, and sensors for an optimal riding experience.
Taking care of your ebike battery is an integral part of getting the most out of your Aventon ebike. Here are a few things to remember:

  1. 1. Charge your battery regularly to avoid fully draining your battery’s stored energy or voltage.
  2. 2. Use the right charger. Only use an Aventon branded and proper model charger (Be sure to place the charger brick on a flat, non-flammable surface like metal or concrete. The charger brick will conduct heat while charging.)
  3. 3. Avoid overcharging your ebike.
  4. 4. Avoid extreme temperatures. Store and charge the battery in a climate-controlled area, keeping it away from both extreme heat and cold.
  5. 5. Maintain the right level of charge. The battery should be stored at 75% charge to its health.
  6. 6. Avoid heavy loads. Do not exceed the bike’s recommended maximum capacity.
  7. 7. Keep your battery, terminal, & ports clean.
Some Aventon models, such as the Level 2, Level 3, Abounds, Sinch 2, & Aventure 2, come with pre-installed fenders and a rear rack. Additional accessories are available for purchase. Explore a wide-range of Aventon accessories, including helmets, locks, bike pumps, and so much more to add to your next riding adventure.
All Aventon-branded frames, framesets, components, and batteries come with a 2-year warranty. Learn more about the Aventon warranty.
Electric bikes require regular maintenance tune-ups similar to traditional bikes and cars. To get the best performance out of your ebike, regularly check tires, tubes, chains, battery, and brakes, or visit a local bike shop for professional assistance. Performing a pre-ride safety check helps maintain your ebike, as well as staying up-to-date on non-electric component maintenance and repairs.
The torque sensor design is more intuitive for the rider at high and low speeds, it’s more efficient, has smoother power delivery, and is less prone to damage as the sensor is internal opposed to the external cadence sensor.

Great value e-bike

This isn't your typical review, rather than first impressions this is my review after owning a Soltera7 for 3 years and putting 5,430 miles on it.
Value: The Solterra models are an excellent value for the money, for just over $1000 you get a quality e-bike that works like advertised
Battery life/Range. The range really depends on a number of factors; what level you set it on, hills, wind, etc. I typically rode on level 3 and when I was riding on flat ground my range was 50-60 miles. My wife rode on Level 2 and achieved 60-70 miles range. Of course, if you go up hills, are fighting a tough headwind, or use level 4 or 5 the range is shorter. I think the emphasis on range is a bit of a red herring anyway since an average rider doesn't typically ride more than 30 miles anyway.
Caveat: The Solterra7 has a cadence motor while the newer 2.5 has a torque motor. There are pros and cons to each and I actually own e-bikes of both types. Without getting too far in the weeds, the Torque sensor bikes feel more like a regular bike and goes faster on flat ground, however they require a lot more effort going uphill. Cadence bikes don't require much effort and are a breeze going up hill, though they eat a lot of battery when doing so. I would recommend a torque sensor bike for younger people, or people who still want to get a workout, and cadence sensor for older/recreational riders who just want to get out on a bike
Quality: I have had zero issues with the Solterra7 other than the free fender that I got with the bike broke in 3 months. I had it replaced with a higher quality fender
Display/App: The display is very functional and easy to see while riding and the app is good if you want to use it.
Gearing: No issues with the gears though I would love an extra gear to go a little faster at times
Brakes: Never had any issues with the brakes.
Ride: The ride is a little stiff, especially since there isn't a front suspension system, but I added a suspension post to the seat and that helped
Overall: Thrilled with the Solterra7, it's a great value. I haven't ridden the new 2.5 with the torque motor but it its likely a good value/product too.

Soltera 2.5

alot of the reviews are very interesting to say the least, ill start off by saying, this is my first ebike, and i came into this knowing i purchased the cheapest bike they had, no shocks, so im not going to complain about the ride, small little tires so im not going to complain about any flats, and a small motor so im not going to complain about it being not powerful enough.

i will say, luckily im mechanically inclined, but i can totally see the "how to" build your Soltera video throwing people off since its for the 2 and not the 2.5 and there are some differences but with some patience and some common sense i was able to build mine and ride it in 30 mins.

as far as performance goes im not sure what people where expecting out of this model but i took it to work today (only a 3.5mi ride) but still it performed just as expected, maybe even better, took little to no effort to cruise at 19mph and when my legs got tired just apply the throttle and hold for 30 seconds then keep pedaling, actually got to work early because i avoided so much traffic and i didnt feel any sort of being tired from the ride while at work due to how easy it is to ride.

the display and app work well together, the oem lights are bright enough, the gearing is fine for a city bike, i think alot of the one star reviews are from people expecting $2,000 performance from a $1,000 bike, i dont regret my purchase at all, and if i get a flat then ill replace the tires with more rugged tires no big deal.

if Aventon is reading this i really think you should pull a 2.5 off the line and have your team assemble it on video and post it to your site, or youtube channel would kept you avoid alot of these one star reviews.

As your first ebike, we are happy to hear that it performed as expected, if not better, for your commute. We will definitely consider your suggestion for a video on assembling the 2.5 model. Thank you for choosing Aventon!
