Why We Love Cycling: A Message of Acceptance

Why We Love Cycling

Different people love cycling for different reasons. Where do we even begin? We'll start with the simple pleasure of being outside enjoying fresh air and the great outdoors. It's a great way of escaping everyday stress. Bikes are not just a physical escape but also a mental getaway. As Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (author of the Sherlock Holmes novels) wrote, “When the spirits are low, when the day appears dark, when work becomes monotonous, when hope hardly seems worth having, just mount a bicycle and go out for a spin down the road, without thought on anything but the ride you are taking.”

We couldn't have said it better ourselves.

For many riders, it's about bonding with like-minded friends and family to share in an experience that they enjoy together. Riding bikes together naturally leads to great conversations and many have made life long friends with people they met on the road.

Some people ride bikes as transportation to reduce their carbon footprint on the environment, save money and beat traffic. Riding ebikes has many advantages and these may be the lesser known benefits.

A good majority of people ride as a form of exercise. Cycling has been proven to be great for cardiovascular health. It's low impact and a lot less prone to injuries than other types of exercise such as running, weight training, and crossfit. However, some people are intimidated by cycling because they don't think they are fit enough to ride a bike, that they don't have that look of a skinny cyclist wearing lycra , or that they don't own an expensive carbon bike.

We're here to say that everyone is a cyclist regardless of their age, ability, or fitness.

Anyone Can Enjoy an Ebike

We're not exaggerating when we say everyone can ride and everyone should enjoy riding a bike. One of the core values of our company is that we believe in empowering everyone to ride bikes because it can change lives and gives everyone the freedom of mobility. We understand that some people don't have the physical ability to ride a "regular" bike - that's why we created ebikes that caters to everyone.

There's a misguided belief that riding an ebike is cheating and it's not real exercise. We are definitely not in that school of thought. Since we started making ebikes, we have witnessed many happy customers whose lives are changed because they brought one of our ebikes.

Any Age Can Enjoy an Ebike

It's a cliche but it's true. Age is just a number. Don't ever let your age determine if you should ride. This is why ebikes are the great equalizer and levels the playing field for everyone. Ebikes allows everyone regardless of their age to get off their couch, go outside and simply enjoy the wind in their faces . Ebikes allows everyone to embrace the pure enjoy of riding. Everyone remembers their first bike when they were a kid. Many stopped riding when they got older, went to school and work, started a family and got too busy to ride for recreation and exercise. Remember how much fun you had when you rode a bike when you were a kid? Now imagine that same fun on an ebike. It's the same you and the same fun, but only easier because you are on ebike.

Any Weight Can Enjoy an Ebike

Just like age, your weight should not determine why you should or shouldn't ride a bike. We hears stories from our customers who talk about how they have become healthier and happier riding ebikes. Yes, it's true. Ebikes can help you jumpstart your weight loss and help you lose weight! One particular customer reached out to us telling us that he lost 40 pounds since he started riding our Pace 500. He has trimmed inches off his waist, went down two suit sizes, and his overall health is much better now. In fact, he has started riding a regular bike now that he's in much better shape and we're totally okay with that. We are just happy to help him ignite his passion for cycling and journey towards better health.

Any Skill Level Can Enjoy an Ebike

Anyone can ride an ebike regardless of your ability or skill level. All you need is a desire to have fun and an adventurous spirit. There's no need to put on a skin tight cycling outfit and no need to clip into the pedals. We understand that riding an ebike might sound intimidating, but the ebike community is very welcoming to newcomers and beginners. Just take a look at our Aventon Facebook page for further proof of this.

You Can Escape

Remember when you were a kid learning how to ride a bike and that first time you were able to pedal on your own without assistance or falling over? Do you remember all the places that your bike took you back then? What about all the fun adventures you had with your friends during the summer when you were out of school, riding all day until it got dark? We highly recommend that you get on an ebike and start those adventures again. You'd be surprised by the many places you can go on an ebike. Many riders talk about how much fun they have riding again after years of abandoning the sport. It's time to start that journey again on an ebike. To quote Dr. Seuss, "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose."
