FAQs

A belt drive bike foregoes the traditional metal-linked chain for a carbon-reinforced polymer belt. This belt mitigates a variety of common maintenance issues found in a traditional drivetrain, preventing grease and grime buildup, metal-on-metal wear, and the need to grease the belt. It also lasts 2-3 times longer than a traditional chain, meaning you can ride further, longer without worrying about the
Belt drives don’t require the same kind of maintenance as traditional chains. Simply wash off the dirt and mud as it accumulates with water and you’re good to go. If you feel like your belt needs tensioning, please bring it to a local Aventon dealer.
The Soltera 3 ADV was designed to be as simple as possible. A throttle requires extra wiring that could potentially be the cause for more maintenance issues. The bike was designed as a true Class 1 to make sure the bike is as reliable for any no-fuss rides and errands.
The Soltera 3 ADV was designed with simplicity at the forefront. Omitting a derailleur means less parts to break, as well as opening up the option for a belt drive (without an internally geared hub). The tricky part of any single speed bike is finding proper gearing for its top speed while keeping the bike nimble and capable uphill. The Soltera 3 ADV’s gearing provides plenty of room for the rider to reach the max speed of 20MPH while still staying well within the necessary gearing for climbing.
The Soltera 3 ADV was designed to be as nimble and light as possible. At 37lbs, which is 20% lighter than its predecessor, 250W motor with a 500W peak is more than sufficient to ride this bike as intended.
Aventon does not sell conversion kits. All Aventon bikes are already designed with electrical components, such as integrated batteries, motors, and sensors for an optimal riding experience.
Taking care of your ebike battery is an integral part of getting the most out of your Aventon ebike. Here are a few things to remember:

  1. 1. Charge your battery regularly to avoid fully draining your battery’s stored energy or voltage.
  2. 2. Use the right charger. Only use an Aventon branded and proper model charger (Be sure to place the charger brick on a flat, non-flammable surface like metal or concrete. The charger brick will conduct heat while charging.)
  3. 3. Avoid overcharging your ebike.
  4. 4. Avoid extreme temperatures. Store and charge the battery in a climate-controlled area, keeping it away from both extreme heat and cold.
  5. 5. Maintain the right level of charge. The battery should be stored at 75% charge to its health.
  6. 6. Avoid heavy loads. Do not exceed the bike’s recommended maximum capacity.
  7. 7. Keep your battery, terminal, & ports clean.
Some Aventon models, such as the Level 2, Level 3, Abounds, Sinch 2, & Aventure 2, come with pre-installed fenders and a rear rack. Additional accessories are available for purchase. Explore a wide-range of Aventon accessories, including helmets, locks, bike pumps, and so much more to add to your next riding adventure.
All Aventon-branded frames, framesets, components, and batteries come with a 2-year warranty. Learn more about the Aventon warranty.
Electric bikes require regular maintenance tune-ups similar to traditional bikes and cars. To get the best performance out of your ebike, regularly check tires, tubes, chains, battery, and brakes, or visit a local bike shop for professional assistance. Performing a pre-ride safety check helps maintain your ebike, as well as staying up-to-date on non-electric component maintenance and repairs.
The torque sensor design is more intuitive for the rider at high and low speeds, it’s more efficient, has smoother power delivery, and is less prone to damage as the sensor is internal opposed to the external cadence sensor.

Finally an e-bike for bike riders!

This review is for the Soltera 3 ADV. I absolutely love this bike. It’s a bike for people who love to ride bikes. Dare I say even for bike nerds. I’ve been commuting-errands on this for two weeks. It is so damn cool. It’s light. It doesn’t look like an e-bike. It looks like a simple bike. Non-descript.

The single-speed belt drive is so frickin cool. Silent. No maintenance. Wow. The single gear ratio is a good compromise. Works for me on modest hills. Don’t need to put much effort in. On steep hills, yeah I gotta stand and pump. But so far that happens only on a consecutive block or two where I live even when climbing 800ft. It’s hilly in Berkeley, CA.

I ride it in Sport and Turbo. Depending on elevation gains I’ll get 30-40 miles. I’m not shy about using turbo on this bike.

It’s the perfect commuter bike. You can take it up/down stairs easily. Lift onto front bus racks. Even though Aventon doesn’t sell a rear rack you can mount an Old Man Mountain Divide rack on the rear. And I stealthed out the branding with black vinyl. So badass. Love, love, love this bike.

Hi there! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed review for the Soltera 3 ADV Ebike. We are thrilled to hear that you are enjoying your new bike and that it is meeting all of your needs as a bike rider. It's great to know that the single-speed belt drive is working out well for you and that you are able to easily navigate the hilly terrain in Berkeley. We love that you have even been able to customize the bike with a rear rack and stealthed out the branding - very cool!

Thank you for choosing Aventon and happy riding!

One of the best purchases I've ever made!

I love, love, love my Soltera 2—and that’s not something I say lightly after putting 2,500 miles on it across nearly every connected borough of New York City (sorry, Staten Island… eventually I'll reach you).

One of the biggest wins for me is that it actually looks like a regular bike. So many e-bikes are clunky and heavy, but the Soltera 2 keeps a lightweight, clean, classic **** profile. I upgraded from the original Soltera, and the jump was absolutely worth it. The ride feels more refined, more confident, and just better suited for serious city mileage. Early on, I was popping a tire almost once a week—but that turned out to be 100% user error. I ride hard, and I was under-inflating. Once I fixed that the issues disappeared. Since then, the bike has been rock solid. The build quality is no joke.

Most of my riding is on pavement, but NYC isn’t just smooth asphalt—there’s dirt, sand, water, broken paths, and surprise terrain everywhere. Upgrading to hybrid tires was a game-changer, making the bike feel even more versatile and planted.

One fun thought: if the bike didn’t have a throttle, it could qualify for some bike marathons. That said, there are 2 things I wish it had:

Cooler built-in lighting options, especially since I ride mostly at night through Central Park
A built-in alarm system and GPS tracker, which would be huge for city riders

None of those are deal-breakers, though. I'm looking forward to the future evolution of the model. Bottom line - the Soltera 2 has proven itself over thousands of real, hard city miles. It’s sleek, reliable, fast, and genuinely fun to ride. If you want an e-bike that doesn’t feel like an e-bike—and can handle NYC life without blinking—this one absolutely delivers.

Hi Adam !

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed and positive review of our Soltera 2. We are thrilled to hear that it has been one of the best purchases you have ever made and that it has exceeded your expectations during your rides through New York City.

We are glad to hear that the lightweight and classic design of the bike has been a major plus for you, and that the upgrade from the original Soltera was well worth it. We take pride in the build quality of our bikes, and we are happy to hear that it has been rock solid for you.

We understand that riding in NYC can be challenging, but we are glad to hear that our hybrid tires have made a significant difference in the versatility and stability of the bike. Happy riding!

Great value e-bike

This isn't your typical review, rather than first impressions this is my review after owning a Soltera7 for 3 years and putting 5,430 miles on it.
Value: The Solterra models are an excellent value for the money, for just over $1000 you get a quality e-bike that works like advertised
Battery life/Range. The range really depends on a number of factors; what level you set it on, hills, wind, etc. I typically rode on level 3 and when I was riding on flat ground my range was 50-60 miles. My wife rode on Level 2 and achieved 60-70 miles range. Of course, if you go up hills, are fighting a tough headwind, or use level 4 or 5 the range is shorter. I think the emphasis on range is a bit of a red herring anyway since an average rider doesn't typically ride more than 30 miles anyway.
Caveat: The Solterra7 has a cadence motor while the newer 2.5 has a torque motor. There are pros and cons to each and I actually own e-bikes of both types. Without getting too far in the weeds, the Torque sensor bikes feel more like a regular bike and goes faster on flat ground, however they require a lot more effort going uphill. Cadence bikes don't require much effort and are a breeze going up hill, though they eat a lot of battery when doing so. I would recommend a torque sensor bike for younger people, or people who still want to get a workout, and cadence sensor for older/recreational riders who just want to get out on a bike
Quality: I have had zero issues with the Solterra7 other than the free fender that I got with the bike broke in 3 months. I had it replaced with a higher quality fender
Display/App: The display is very functional and easy to see while riding and the app is good if you want to use it.
Gearing: No issues with the gears though I would love an extra gear to go a little faster at times
Brakes: Never had any issues with the brakes.
Ride: The ride is a little stiff, especially since there isn't a front suspension system, but I added a suspension post to the seat and that helped
Overall: Thrilled with the Solterra7, it's a great value. I haven't ridden the new 2.5 with the torque motor but it its likely a good value/product too.
