Aventon x Gates Belt Drive
January 20, 2026
The Soltera 3 refines simplicity by cutting back the frills and leaving only the necessary ingredients for a quick commute or ride through the city.
However, as is the Aventon way, this bike does have one feature that stands out and pushes the envelope forward: the Gates Carbon Belt Drive system. Belt drive bikes are notorious for their ease of maintenance and longevity of the belt. Where a traditional chain will last anywhere from 1000-3000 miles on an ebike before breaking or needing replacement, Gates claims that its belt will last at least double that with other sources claiming that the chain could last anywhere from 2-3 the lifespan of a normal bike chain.
Since the belts are made from a carbon-reinforced polymer, they avoid the usual hiccups of traditional chains such as metal-on-metal wear, dirt and grime buildup, and rust. Additionally, pairing this belt drive system with a single-speed gear eliminates the wear from shifting across the cassette. These systems also don’t have to be lubricated the same way that traditional chains do. This encourages drivetrain health, since a dry belt gathers less grime and dirt. Most of the time, a quick rinse after riding through mud suffices as upkeep.
The Soltera 3 is engineered for urban agility and elegant minimalism, practically demanding a low-maintenance drivetrain. Even quick errands in the rain can wreak havoc on a traditional chain, and the Soltera is built to be the grab-and-go for any scenario. Experience refined simplicity, driven by the Gates Carbon Belt Drive.
