From the wonderful purchase experience with Jessica at Aventon in November 2020 to the very latest of my 400 plus miles as of this review (Jan. 25, 2021), I could not be more pleased to be one of Aventon's latest advocates. The Level is such a solid, sheer delight of a bike to ride and Aventon's real life range estimates for it are entirely realistic! Maybe I'm in better shape than I thought but I find that I ride in PAS level 1 most of the time and have covered as much as 45 miles on moderately hilly greenways - EASILY from a full charge with 49.7 volts and all 10 bars left on the Level's superbly adequate M5 display. The M5 display is perfect...in it's simplicity; super easy to read in any lighting condition and it gives you just what you want/need to know about the bike's status and your ride. As for that "no throttle on demand from a dead stop" issue that even I thought would be a concern...well, it just hasn't been one at all. As some have mentioned, I've found it does indeed work to use the walk mode if you find you need some help from the motor to get rolling again...(e.g. from a stop on an somewhat steep incline). For those that might find this interesting, my Level is the high step version in the M/L size and both my 5' 1" daughter and I (5' 10") can straddle and ride the bike safely/comfortably.
Like so many others, I'm very pleased with the quality of the components, performance and ride quality of the Level. It's such a COMPLETE JOY to ride. It arrived in less than a week and in perfect condition. Aventon's assembly video is well done and was very helpful. Although the Level is almost perfect straight out of the box, I did upgrade the saddle, installed an adjustable riser stem and a surprisingly effective $25 suspension seatpost. I also treated myself to a few accessories, like a phone holder, a bell, an under-the-seat tools bag, a rearview mirror, a bottle holder that attaches to the stem with velcro straps, and a nice front and rear light set all with the much appreciated holiday discount from Aventon. What a FANTASTIC bike from a GREAT company! Thank you, Aventon. You've put SMILES in my MILES!
Bought 2 LEVEL bikes for wife and I after we each took a test ride on our neighbor's Level that he had purchased a few weeks earlier. Ordered 2 bikes the same afternoon. The LEVEL is well constructed and sturdy. Very smooth ride on the road and gravel trails. The pedal assist feature makes the hills disappear; I guess that's why they call it the Level.
After a few rides, my wife's bike picked up a shard of glass that caused the rear tire to have a slow leak. When I tried to remove the rear axle, it appeared to be stuck in the rear frame. After discussing with customer service they suspected that the frame may have been bent during shipping and sent us a whole new bike! That my friend is what I call customer service!
Many thanks to the staff at Aventon for standing behind what you sell and making things right...
I just purchased 2 levels in December. The setup was extremely easy. I test rode each in the neighborhood for about 5 minutes each but since it is winter here that was the extent of the ride. I will be taking them to Gulf Shores Alabama next month and that will be the real test.
I am very pleased with my Aventon Level Commuter. I was a bit unsure of purchasing it without first seeing it and riding it because I am short and usually have trouble fitting a frame. I decided to order it after comparing bikes available locally and others offered online. The positive information in reviews was consistent. I was unable to find any strong negative information.
This fit is great. I’ve put just about 140 miles on it and have had no issues. The gear shifting is very smooth. The 5 pedal assist levels come Imes with the eight gears have made it easy to get steady spinning and cranking exercise while also neutralizing some of the nastier hills here in New Hampshire. The ride is very responsive.
The comparatively low price for a bike with al the features and styling makes the Level Commuter a great value.
An excellent, fun-to-ride bike
